In memory of my mom and my grandmother, and the joy that our two respective daughter in laws bring us as they mother their daughter’s (our granddaughters) with love and skill…here are some images that conjure up Mother’s Day memories, new and old.
Grandparenting is the best. You’ve heard the reasons why and it’s all true!
~Olivia, age 5~ ~Fae, age 1 1/2~
…a sweet guest room for granddaughters (not mine, but it’s sure pretty).
…hydrangea the size of small cars. My grandmother grew them and I’ve seen them in the south, but never mastered this size in my own yard.
…I believe this is a Charles Faudree image. I love the way he could successfully create beauty in a room with both feminine and masculine touches.
…my mom would have loved these hydrangea cupcakes. If you know someone that would enjoy these, visit HERE
…gardens always remind me of my mother, who loved to work in her garden and taught me the love that past time as well.
…picnics, what a beautiful way to spend a Mother’s Day. We simply don’t picnic enough anymore.
…roses are a standard for mom’s, aren’t they?
I wish you a Mother’s Day starting with breakfast in bed…
…and a long soak at the end of this special holiday.
Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers, and sisters, aunts and cousins, but only one mother in the whole world.”

A very sweet message this morning, Karen. Olivia & Fae are lucky little girls to have you for their grandmother. I have such good memories of learning about flowers with mine. Hmm, I asked for a book for Mother’s Day, but now I’m thinking I should add a cupcake to that list. Wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Thank you, Vicki. Have a lovely Mother’s Day. Yes, I think I’d like one of those cupcakes too! xo, Karen

Happy Mother’s Day, Karen! I hope your day is full of grandkids and hydrangea cupcakes! No cupcakes here, but I do have tons of hydrangea blossoms coming. Everything’s blooming like crazy because of our last hot summer and warm, wet winter. Have a wonderful weekend! –D’Arcy

Happy Mother’s Day! Your granddaughters are adorable!!! Our hydrangeas aren’t nearly blooming, but we’ve had a wonderful spring with lots of rain, so I can see it’s going to be a good year for them!
Have a wonderful holiday!
p.s.- sorry I’ve been an absent blog friend! I’ve been busy being an excellent hermit!

I believe the eastern region of the country grows the best hydrangea…mine are not much bigger than when I planted them 2 years ago. Oh well, my green thumb may be on it’s way to turning gray (the current color trend). 🙂 I’m ready for hermit life…may I join you? xo, Karen

Hi Karen,
What a lovely tribute to your mom. I have so many wonderful memories of my own mom teaching me how to sew and many other things. I loved the pics of Livi and Fae and that little girl’s room was to die for! Happy Mother’s Day to you, my friend.

What a lovely post. First of all, your grand babies are adorable – what a joy! The hydrangea remind me of my grandmothers home. She ignored them and they flourished like crazy. Isn’t that always the case? I, on the other hand, babied mine and they just never did well and finally replaced them. My mother lives to garden also. I’m just starting to enjoy it and my attention will be focused on a planning for a small rose garden. We’ll see how that goes…(sense the sarcasm!!??). I do hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day. I hope you get to enjoy a beautiful breakfast in bed and a long soak…that sounds wonderful.
Karen B. said:
Thank you for all your kind words (always). I should replace my hydrangea but they’re in a spot in the yard where no one really sees them very often. I keep thinking maybe the rule of 3rd year being a charm will kick in and they’ll begin to put on aggressive growth! 🙂 You enjoy your weekend too…I know it’s countdown to ORC so I’m sure you’ll relax after the work. xo, Karen

I’ll collect those good vibes and pour them on my hydrangea. 🙂 Enjoy the day! xo, Karen

Hi Leslie, I plan on fixing the whole picnic issue this summer. I need to make the effort, both girls would love a picnic and we have several beautiful parks within walking distance. I even have a picnic basket that was a wedding gift. Thank you for stopping by. xo, Karen
