During my hiatus from blogging this past August, but just after my post about my feeling I’d lost my creativity, there were several suggestions from my sweet blog friends on blog topics. These were helpful. After all, when you are blanking on ideas, it’s really nice to hear some solid leads on subject matter. {Thanks to all of you for your patience and kind words of support}
I plan on using these tips. Country Meadow Designs suggested I post about new blog friends. If you read blogs you probably have experienced a growing list of worthwhile and talented writers to follow. Its like a little unexpected present. If you’re like me, you read certain blogs religiously. Then one day a blog-buddy mentions a site that has something of interest to them, you hit the link and think, “why have I never seen this site before?!”
I’ve done these new blog friend posts before HERE, HERE, and most recently HERE. I enjoy reading so many different sites that now I find I have to sit down and treat my visits to my favorites much as I do with a new design magazine when it arrives in the mail. Interestingly, blog reading has replaced many of my subscriptions to magazines. Something I never imagined would happen. {Welcome to the 21st century, Karen} Has that happened to any of you with magazine subscriptions?
By the way, some of these bloggers have been blogging much longer than me and I’m wowed when I see how long they’ve been writing and delivering fresh, inspiration-filled, beautiful posts to our e-mailboxes.
So without further delay…come with me, there’s some wonderful people I’d like to introduce you to.
May I introduce: Kristy Woodson Harvey ~ author
Let me start with one you probably already know and love. Kristy of the talented mother/daughter blog Design Chic recently completed her first novel (actually she just completed the writing on her second, but her first novel, Dear Carolina will be released in May 2015). I know, talk about talent in the gene pool. While still contributing to Design Chic (still a must read and favorite of mine, but then it’s probably a favorite of yours too), Kristy started a new blog site, Kristy Woodson Harvey – author and it is so much fun to read. She has introduced us to fellow authors, shared inspirational ideas for personal goal setting (one of my personal favorites) and in general provides the same fabulous home design leads as the Design Chic team continues to do. I feel sure you’ll love your time visiting her site.
A relatively new favorite for me…
I don’t remember how I found Leslie’s site, Gwen Moss, home and life inspiration, but for me there was an immediate sense that I could be friends with this talented writer and fellow Californian. She is currently writing about her family’s adventure of a few moves in a short amount of time, and the resulting move to their new (to them) home. I love her writing and can only imagine how enjoyable following her on her renovation journey and the ongoing discovery of her surroundings will be. Leslie writes with an honesty that entertains and comforts, like a heart to heart with a dear friend. Her holiday decorating is filled with original ideas, the kind you like to steel borrow for your own. I hope you will stop by and say “hi” to Leslie, you’ll be glad you did.
Her recent Halloween table post…
and finally, for this round of introductions…
Kim of Tidbits and Twine, {don’t you love that name?} is probably the most recent discovery for me.
In Kim’s About Me tab she shares her story of always being enthusiastic about design— that’s what links so many of us, isn’t it?
Blogging since March 2013, I find her posts unique in her approach of sharing tips and how to’s on the subject of common stumbling blocks many of us face. For example, how to style a bookshelf, decorating with texture, do’s and don’ts for decorating the guest bath, etc.
Naturally, all of her tips are published with great image examples of each topic of design.
So that’s my newest round of blog friends. I hope you drop by and say hi to each of them. I think you’ll have fun.

Debra, You just made my day! But then as a friend, that is the kindness that draws friends! Kristy’s blog is filled with great suggestions on books to read based on her reading and meeting new authors and a youthful spirit that brightens a day. Is the weather in England beautiful right now? Safe travels, my friend. xo, Karen

Oh Karen. You are so kind. Do you know that I could say the same things about you and your blog? I remember clicking on here and being utterly impressed with your writing and in love with the substance and warmth of your posts. Seriously. I remember wondering what took me so long to discover you in the blog world. Isn’t it an amazing experience…the serendipitous way we bloggers find each other? I’m still slightly in awe of the whole process. And I feel so blessed to call you a friend… the fact that I adore your style makes it even sweeter. I will definitely check out these other friends of yours, they look utterly delightful.

Karen – I am so honored that you would include me in this post and I can’t thank you enough. Every time I see your name pop up in comments I smile and rush to see what you’ve written. “Meeting” new friends like you, who are kind and supportive {and might I add, incredibly talented and inspiring!} are the reason I love blogging.

This is such a fun way to be introduced to new blog friends. I found Kim’s pretty site through a link you provided, and have been enjoying Kristy’s inspiration, too. Now I’m off to go meet Leslie! Thanks for the gracious introductions!

Loi, I know, Design Chic has been one of my favorite sites for years. Who knew that Kristy was so multi-talented! To have actually written a novel (or two) is so impressive. I can’t wait for the book to come out in May 2015. xo, Karen

It is always such a treat to come across a new blog that inspires. It is like unwrapping a Christmas present with each new blog post. I’m off to check out your new favorites.
I’ve just come to the end of my subscription to AD, the final magazine I’ll be subscribing to for a while. I simply don’t find the time any more to read them and very few are inspiring any more.
Karen B. said:
CD,
I agree, when I stumble upon a new blog site it’s so much fun to get to know the writer and see things in a new light, a new perspective. Christmas presents are a good analogy.
I am the same way, it’s difficult to find the time to pour over magazines the way I used to. I still receive Veranda but find that I’ve got files of rooms that are similar or that I don’t feel a connection to some of the larger spaces. I’m currently going through my stockpile of magazines and ripping worthwhile articles/pictures and tossing them.
Thank you for stopping by. It’s always fun to chat. Karen

Dear Karen,
What a lovely post . . . and wonderful introduction to blogs (and their Authors) that you find inspiration and enjoyment. I, too, am often amazed at the talent I find in so many blogs.
I’m fairly new to your blog, so I wasn’t aware that you took some time off. Welcome back! I look forward to getting to know you . . .

Suzanne, Ditto. I feel like we share the love of entertaining, formally or casually. Taking the time to set the table and make things special is something I believe important for everyday. I also read that you live in California, as do I. So it will be fun to see what’s cooking in your kitchen, I’ve already copied a couple of your scrumptious looking recipes. Thank you for stopping by, its so nice to meet you. Karen

I smiled when I read your comment on my ‘Fall leaves from the mountains’ post, because we also spent the weekend in Big Bear . . . and that’s where the beautiful leaves came from. And yes, mine didn’t dry and curl either. There’s something very special about them :0)
We’re so blessed to live 5 minutes from the beach and 1.5 hours from the mountains . . . we have the best of both worlds!
Have a wonderful weekend, Karen . . .

So true. I am whine from time to time about not having any true winter weather, but a short drive can always provide that experience and we don’t have to put on the snow tires or shovel the driveway. 🙂 Karen

I have to agree with you about Halloween. I played along when my children were little but I never cared for the darn holiday! I didn’t like the decor or all the candy hanging around for months!

Cindy, hahaha. Yes, the candy is so darn tempting with its “mini” sized pieces. I end up thinking they can’t possibly have too many calories. 🙂 xo
